I’m Beth Dolar, founder of Speech Spark, and certified Speech Language Pathologist.
For over a decade, I’ve worked with adults in overcoming communication challenges specifically related to aphasia and dementia.
I provide therapy to families in the Green Bay and Fox Valley, Wisconsin area in the comfortable and familiar environment of their own home.
First things first, let me say this: I understand dealing with aphasia or other communication impairments is hard. It’s hard on you, it’s hard on them, it’s hard on your whole family.
There’s no denying the difficulty, but there’s something else you should know, something much more important: there is so much hope. Your loved one is still in there, just hidden behind the communication barrier. With time, patience, and the right research-based techniques, we can work together to help their spark return.
I’ve seen the full spectrum of what these diseases and impairments can do to not only the patient affected, but the entire family. A breakdown in our ability to communicate is detrimental, confusing, and downright scary at times. To one day be living and speaking with ease, and the next struggling to communicate basic needs is one of the hardest things a person can go through.
This is no easy hurdle to jump, and I’m here for you and your loved ones on this journey. Whether we are working through the communication barriers that accompany aphasia, or working together to keep your loved ones’ communication strengths at the forefront as long as possible with dementia, you will never feel unheard in our time together.
I focus on breaking down that barrier, allowing their spark to shine through once again. The goal is not only to make regular communication possible, but to restore the caring, positive relationships between your loved one and their family and friends. Hearing that a technique I suggested worked wonders, or seeing the look on your loved one’s face when they finally feel understood again, that’s why I do what I do.
When you work with Speech Spark, you will never receive a blanket therapy approach. Each patient relationship and rehabilitation plan is as unique as the individual. Together, we will create a program that will help meet your loved one's functional goals and bring their spark to life in the best way possible for them.
I know your relationship with your loved one is the most important thing to you. You don’t have to go through this alone and I would be honored to be part of the journey. Contact me for a free consultation and start the journey towards recovery.
