Enjoying a visit... the Botanical Gardens

It is beautiful out today.  I had time between clients so I went to the Green Bay Botanical Gardens.  Such a feast for the senses...

Feel the warm sun on my face...

Hear the leaves rustle...

See the infinite shades of green, the textures of the various plants, perennials, trees, herbs...

Feel the cool breeze keeping the bugs at bay...

Smell the sweet flowers, the spicy herbs...

Hear the birds chirp...

See the beautiful colorful flowers...

Hear the crunch of the stone gravel path beneath my feet...

See the artistic blend of green plants, wood mulch, stone and metal sculptures, combinations of stone, mulch or cement pathways...

If you have one nearby, take your loved one.  Most have a wheelchair accessible path, which means it's generally level and easy to walk safely.  If you can't take them to the gardens, bring the botanical garden to them.  Here's how.....

Go yourself, take plenty of beautiful and interesting pictures.  Of plants, structures, butterflies, the entrance sign, people, anything you think is interesting.

Edit the photos so they are vibrant and easy to see.  Put the large photos in a book.  Include brief, easy to read descriptions.

Bring a favorite scented flower.

Go outside together to sit in a quiet place in the shade.  If your loved one prefers to walk or stand, that's okay too.  Look through the book together.  Don't ask questions.  Do make comments.  Do accept and enjoy any silence, listening to the birds and leaves around you as you enjoy the pictures.   Do ignore accuracy.  "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet".  If she calls a rose a daisy, that's okay.  No need to correct the error.  Enjoy a low pressure conversation and simple comments, plenty of smiles.

As the visit comes to a close, suggest a venture inside for some coffee (or tea, lemonade, anything) for a smooth transition to the next activity.  Thank your loved one for the lovely visit.

You can repeat this visit all summer long
